The course aims to introduce the fields of library and information science, explore the developmental stages of library and information science, examine the relationship between library science and other disciplines, and also help in recognizing the importance and various sources of information.

This course aims to introduce the student to the nature and characteristics of documents as a source of information, and how to deal with them in terms of organization, storage and retrieval, while introducing Arab and international experiences in the field of dealing with documents, then introducing documents in Libya, and informing students about modern systems and technical means in dealing with documents.

The course aims to train fourth-year students on a number of office procedures, skills, administrative and service technologies that the student will encounter upon graduation and joining the workforce in libraries or information centers. In this aspect, a number of practical applications for managing technical and administrative procedures in the library are covered, and all problems facing libraries and information centers are solved, and how to overcome them through what was studied during the previous years of study for the specialization courses.
