UK Ambassador Martin Reynolds Visits Gharyan University to Strengthen Academic and Cultural Ties

Gharyan University witnessed on Monday, May 25, 2026, a visit by His Excellency the Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Libya, Mr. Martin Reynolds, with the attendance of the University President, the Mayor of Gharyan, as well as directors of offices and centers at the university’s General Administration.  


This visit came within the framework of strengthening academic and cultural relations, supporting opportunities for cooperation between Libyan and British higher education institutions, in addition to learning about the university, its academic and research programs, and its future vision in the fields of development and international collaboration.  


During the meeting, the university presented its key strategic priorities, especially in the areas of scientific research, digital transformation, entrepreneurship, and building international partnerships, along with its efforts to develop the academic environment and serve the local community.  


The two sides also discussed possible avenues of cooperation with British universities and institutions, contributing to supporting academic exchange programs, capacity building, and enhancing opportunities for joint scientific research.  


At the conclusion of the visit, the British Ambassador Mr. Martin Reynolds expressed his appreciation for the warm reception, praising the role of Libyan universities in supporting education, development, and youth empowerment, while Gharyan University affirmed its commitment to academic openness and strengthening its presence within international cooperation networks.
